U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol Sees 25% Growth

Good news for the folks who have been working to grow the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol. Started in 2020, the Protocol’s vision is to set a new standard in sustainable cotton production where full transparency is a reality and continuous improvement of our environmental footprint is the central goal.

“We are pleased to share that the Trust Protocol recently announced that the total planted cotton acres enrolled in the program increased by 25% compared to 2022. This means that for the 2023 crop year, the number of enrolled planted cotton acres in the program reached 1.6 million acres.”
According to their website, the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol is built on a foundation of robust data capture, aggregation and reporting that drives continuous improvement across six key sustainability metrics – water use, energy efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions, soil conservation, soil carbon and land use – and is the world’s first sustainable cotton fiber program to offer article-level supply chain transparency
