Farms across the country are slowly becoming more and more digital. Similarly, the infrastructure that handles the commodities after the harvest is experiencing digitization as well. Bushel is one company that works with grain companies to digitize their processes, says CEO Jake Joraanstad.

Joraanstad… “There are 15 to 20 different ERP systems that the egg businesses use around this country, that store all of this data around your farm, as a farmer. And nobody except Bushel has ever spent any time trying to standardize, gather that information, and make it useful to the grower and the facilities themselves.”

Joraanstad says there are already over 2,000 grain locations in U.S. in Canada using the platform, which makes the volume of grain they’re responsible for quite impressive.

Joraanstad… “We have over 10 billion bushels - with a "b" - of volume of grain on our platform. That means there are 10 billion bushels that don't have to be double entered by the farmer if they want to use these tools. And that's probably means it touches your farm and your buddy's farm and your cousin's farm and whoever else. And so that's our vision and that's the equivalent of what we describe as the digital infrastructure: how do we move the information that matters most in an effective manner that serves the industry broadly, but also helps the farmer do a better job at what they do.”
