Flies and karma. Tying flies can be tied to karma according to our fly fishing, karmic giving correspondent Josh Mills. Today he gives us a fascinating look at what can be done with flies. "One of the fun things about fly tying is that a lot of times you wind up with a lot more flies than you have the ability to fish. I am a big believer in spreading out your fishing karma amongst other people because I think it will come back to you pretty well. I was on the grand Rhonde recently with a good friend of mine who was a mentor of mine in steelhead fishing and a year before he had given me a fly that he called the Royal Moe which is a version of the Royal Coachman that he had changed but it was given to him by a gentleman that is a very effective steelhead fishermen and a great spey caster. Through this line of karma, I pick out this fly and I just happened to be fishing with my buddy that day and in the first run I catch three fish. I had not fished this fly for over a year. It had just been sitting in my box and I had picked it out and I ended up catching five fish on that day on this very small, nondescript steelhead fly. I try to pass that karma back home because there is an interconnection to all of this stuff.
