Beef Day at Les Bois

Beef Day at Les Bois

Welcome to Open Range, I’m KayDee Gilkey. Stay tuned because after the break I’ll check in with our field reporter, Greg Martin for the AgriBeef Minute.

I’m Greg Martin with today’s AgriBeef Minute. Traci Bracco, executive director of the Idaho Beef Council and her staff have been busy this month helping to promote Beef Month and it wraps up at Les Bois Park in Boise.

BRACCO: It’s the second year we have done Beef Day at the Races at Les Bois Park. It’s just one of the ways we are wrapping up Beef Month. Consumers can come out and we’re going to be doing some fun things like giving away a Traeger grill, there’s going to be discounts on burgers throughout the evening and just a whole bunch of other fun things that we’re doing.

The Beef Council is busy all year long promoting beef...not just in July.

BRACCO: We average over 50 consumer events a year. Everything from flatiron Friday which is taking pace every Friday in the month of July to big promotions that we do with Rosauers grocery store which we just wrapped up on Saturday - a cowboy cookout with them. We do a number of things to get the word out about beef.

So horse racing fans will get an extra treat coming up.

BRACCO: You know horse racing and horses is very closely linked to the cattle industry and so that’s why something like Beef Day at Les Bois is a good fit for us because the cattle ranching industry here in Idaho is one of the leading agricultural industries so it’s just a good partnership. Horses and cowboys and the beef industry, we all go side-by-side with one another.

I’m Greg Martin and that’s today’s AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks Greg. Don’t forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef. I’m KayDee Gilkey.
