With 30 years of experience with FMC Corporation, Gail Stratmann, regional technical manager has witnessed numerous trends in the industry. Currently, there are concerns about economic challenges, especially regarding input costs.

“It is little gonna be a little more challenging year this year as growers are looking at their bottom line watching their margins, I think it's gonna be really important to understand where they're getting their return on investment from inputs. I mean, in many of the years past, we've been really kind of pushing for that next yield threshold trying to strive for those high yields because we had commodity prices that would reward you for that. In this type of environment. We're probably looking at more optimizing the return on investment, where am I getting the most bushels for the dollar I'm spending on each one of those inputs.”

Stratman says understanding and prioritizing where the input dollar goes will be crucial for growers to maximize the bottom line. FMC also provides a fungicide that can be applied with the planter.

“And is for foliar disease control the rest of the year. Well think about that. If I can do that with the planter and I'm already going across the field. I now have saved a trip later in the season. So I'm taking that 12 or $14 application costs and putting it back on my bottom line. Those are the kinds of savings and the kinds of things that you got to think about any year like this where every one of those dollars is going to matter FMC.”
