The next wave in agricultural technology is likely to include a combination of traditional equipment and modern connected digital devices. Kendal Quandahl manages the Case IH Precision Field Team for North America. She says equipment connectivity is a big priority for the company.

Quandahl… “We talk a lot about data and data management inside of precision, and one thing that we've been focused on a lot over the last few years, and it's a really big focus for Case IH, is equipment connectivity. So being able to see where every piece of equipment is and collect that data in nearly real time and have that available to use is one of the biggest focuses right now because I think it gives our producers the biggest opportunity to change how they farm sometimes even in the moment.”

Quandahl says there’s still a lot of untapped farm data out there.

Quandahl… “Collecting something like fuel usage off of a machine helps us understand are we running the equipment the way that's designed to be run? Are we using a piece of tillage equipment the way that it was designed to run to right size tractor, to the right size implement? And some of those things we can really start to learn off of that kind of information. And it's something we maybe haven't looked at.”

Quandahl said this is just the beginning of the opportunities around connected equipment.
