DAMN Act Pt 2

From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. Many believe there are better options for restoring Northwest salmon populations than simply breaching Lower Snake River dams, but they’ve not been included in recent talks held by the Biden Administration.

U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse says it’s frustrating to watch …

NEWHOUSE … “We should not be wasting so much time and energy and resources with this question of dam breaching. We should be working on those things that will benefit the salmon and allow us to continue receiving the benefits of the dams themselves.”

Benefits, Newhouse says we’ve been talking about for decades …

NEWHOUSE … “I think that, maybe say this in a nice way, a bit of ignorance on the part of many people that we need to continue to help understand and educate them so that we don’t continually have this argument of whether the dams should be in place or not.”

As for reports that say the President has never publicly stated he supports breaching the dams …

NEWHOUSE … “Well, you know, this recent report from the CEQ I think mentions dam breaching something like 68 times. So, it’s a little hard to fully grasp the contention by the President that he doesn’t support dam breaching if that’s included in the report that many times.”

Newhouse says his DAMN Act would combat this

Administration’s radical, unfair, and unsubstantiated effort to destroy our dams.
