From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. Walla Walla Valley winery, L’Ecole Nº 41 has been honored for the 17th time as a Wine & Spirits Magazine Top 100 Winery of the Year.

L’Ecole’s Chief Operating Officer, Ryan Pennington says it’s an incredible honor and they’ll celebrate with the other 99 wineries soon, pouring their wines alongside food offered by top restaurants. …

PENNINGTON … “So, as part of this award, we’ve also been invited to participate in a tasting that includes the rest of the Top 100 Wineries, first in October in San Francisco and then again, early next year, in New York.”

And once again, Pennington says this is a great opportunity for the L’Ecole team …

PENNINGTON … “Again, it’s a tremendous honor to be able to show our wines and represent Washington and the Walla Walla Valley alongside some of the best wines in the world.”

As for the wines they will take to the tastings, Pennington says …

PENNINGTON … “Yeah, we’ll have our Apogee Bordeaux Blend, which is from Pepperbridge Vineyard in the Walla Walla valley, as well as our Estate Ferguson Vineyard Bordeaux Blend, also from Walla Walla, at both tastings.”

Only 16 wineries, including L’Ecole, have been named to this prestigious list 17 or more times.

Wine & Spirits’ editors taste thousands of wines from around the world to develop their Top 100 list of the year’s best wineries based on overall performance.

With this number of awards, L’Ecole is credited as a “Premier Cru Winery.”
