**In their quest to improve strawberry flavor, University of Florida scientists have found the genes behind several aromatic chemicals that enhance the fruit’s taste.

www.morningagclips.com reports, these findings will help UF researchers as they study the sources of the unique aroma in strawberries.

In Florida, farmers grow strawberries on about 11,000 acres, and the fruit carries a $400 million-a-year wholesale value.

Nationwide, strawberries are valued at about $2.2 billion.

**The Inflation Reduction Act passed by the Senate includes some $40 billion of agricultural funding.

Passed along party lines, Senate Ag Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow says the legislation "gives farmers the resources to tackle the climate crisis by reducing carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions."

But Arkansas Republican John Boozman says Democrats are “passing their far-Left agenda, including parts of the Green New Deal, higher taxes, turbocharging the IRS, and expanding the government’s reach."
