Biringer Farms Strawberries Pt 2
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. Washington’s strawberry season is upon us, a little late but it’s here. Biringer Farm has been producing delicious strawberries since 1948, but the Strawberry Lady, Diana Biringer says they’re no longer in Marysville …
BIRINGER … “We moved our farm. We’ve been up in Arlington, probably, for about 12 years. Before that, we were on Spencer Island in Everett. And before that, the farm started in Marysville.”
And, Biringer says they’ve loved every minute of it …
BIRINGER … “We’re still old-fashioned. We’re old and we’re old-fashioned.”
This years cool, wet weather, Biringer says has been a challenge, but …
BIRINGER … “Some of the other varieties are pretty wet. Mother Nature’s been giving them a bath continually and it’s a little muddy in some areas, and we’re so excited and I see the sun this morning.”
The sunny forecast, Biringer says is welcome news for her and her husband …
BIRINGER … “I think so. He told me the one field is red on one side and green on the other, so I thought, well the sunshine should bring them full red pretty soon. But he’s still thinking some of those fields are going to be really late.
The Strawberry Lady says the weather delays probably means they’ll have strawberries well into August.
