With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. Following last year’s virtual event, this year’s 34th Annual Auction of Washington Wines will be held both live AND virtually next month.

The Auction’s executive director, Jaimie Peha says a smaller LIVE event will be held at the long-time auction home of Chateau Ste. Michelle …

PEHA … “From there, we’ll be broadcasting to two other locations. So, we’ll be broadcasting to the Maryhill Schoolhouse location in Woodinville and to the Winemakers Reserve, which is also in Woodinville.”

For those people, Peha says it will be just like they’re at the actual auction …

PEHA … “So, we have two satellite locations where people will be bidding on their phones, and the auctioneers at Chateau Ste. Michelle will be taking that into consideration along with the people raising their paddles. So, it’s fairly complicated.”

And, Peha says you could be there …

PEHA … “You know, tickets are on sale now. It’s $500 at seat, or $5,000 for a table of 10. And, you know, it’s the same as the gala has been in the past.”

So, how easy is it? …

PEHA … “Super easy! www.auctionofwawines.org … All the information is there. They can click on that to find the information. You can register for online. There’s no fee to register online if you just want to watch.”

Proceeds from both the Gala Auction on August 14th and the Online Auction August 10th to the 14th … benefit Seattle Children’s, WSU Viticulture and Enology Research, and the AWW Industry Grant Program.
