Wyatt and Brahmas

I called Wyatt Prescott of the Idaho Cattle Association to talk about animals being selectively bred to withstand global warming. Listen to the answer man. "I had an experience in which I knew a guy from Alabama who was raising Brahmas because they could endure heat. They originate from India where they can take extreme heat. Is that something that we would ever do appear? Typically you see Brahma more in the South. They have heat tolerance. They don't handle the winters quite as well up here. I'm not a spokesperson for the breed, obviously but I would say that cold tolerance is the resistance. That being the northern tier of the United States. You can tell just by looking at them. Their skin is a little thinner and they don't hair up as much as our cattle do. They can actually twitch their hide like a horse can to keep the flies off of them. They have insect tolerance as well. They keep their teeth twice as long as other beef cows. And they live to be a lot older. Sorry, that's probably more than you wanted. No I am impressed. Is that all you have? Yes. You know what, I'll have to start taking your calls more often, that was easy.
