Colorado Corn Producers Want Changes to Farm Bill
Colorado corn growers are pushing for changes in proposed farm bill language to include a comprehensive disaster program.Formal negotiations between the House and Senate version are expected in the near future.
Colorado Corn Communications Director Kim Reddin says corn producers believe the disaster program language needs beefing up.
"That is something the corn growers are especially interested in seeing incorporated into the bill."
Redding says the growers are not asking for a handout but a comprehensive program that offsets losses when disaster occurs. She says such a program would help wheat, fruit and other vegetable farmers as well.
