4-19 SS Otter on Wolves

Will we or will we not ever be able to hunt wolves in the Northwest? Every sign says that wolves have recovered and that they should not be listed as an endangered species.

The topic of who manages wolves, is it the state or the feds has been covered ad nauseum. Certainly the  governor of Idaho would like it to be the states themselves. After being challenged by Washington, DC Gov. Otter took a stand. Let’s listen. “Last fall when negotiations broke down for about the third time between myself, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, when those negotiations broke down, that’s when I told fish and game to stand down. We weren’t going to report, we weren’t going to assist in any investigation. We basically became a sanctuary state. Some states had done that, cities and counties have done that on immigration. They just told their law enforcement officials you are not going to arrest, you are not going to assist in the rest, you are not going to investigate the presence of an illegal alien, basically I did the same thing with wolves. And so did Montana and when Montana did that I believe it was in early to mid February plus the fact that Congress was going forward handling the Wolf problem legislatively because the Interior Department couldn’t seem to get the job done administratively because the courts kept on reversing every delisting that the secretary went through.”
