Olive Green Adminsitration
The Save Our Wild Salmon folks are fuming, well get in line with all the others whining that this President isn’t as green as expected. On the first day of June welcome to Open Range, I’m Susan Allen and I’ll be back after a quick break. Check out internet chatter, a bevy of environmental groups are complaining that Obama Administration isn’t as green enough, more an olive color, meaning drab and disappointing. The latest frustration involves northwest salmon. Groups like Save Our Wild Salmon were infuriated to learn the feds have no additional plans in the works to protect the endangered wild salmon runs in the Columbia River Basin. As reported in the Seattle Times this administration merely tweaked Bush a tad, leaving the bulk of the plan in place a while reporting their primary focus would be research and study. Oh and part of the new deal will be to create additional teams of fisheries management to study climate change and salmon and how salmon are impacted by hatchery fish, again more government. They were mute on the dam issue causing the legal director for Save Our Wild Salmon to "run up and down her chain" and say that the administration “came out with Band-aids when we’re hemorrhaging from a major artery” Hemorrhaging," after the Northwest just experienced record salmon and steal head runs? Naturally Oregon’s liberal governor Kulongoski didn’t cozy up to the new plan citing federal officials didn’t have enough pow –wows with tribal members and salmon restoration groups who want four Snake River dams immediately removed.
