Workshops in Lewiston and Caldwell should help beef and dairy producers learn more about the National Animal Identification System and the Beef Quality Assurance program. The University of Idaho extension service is coordinating the Lewiston event on November 28th and the Caldwell workshop on December 5th. Industry-leading veterinarians, animal health specialists and educators will deliver sessions on individual animal identification options, proper BQA management and processing techniques. Idaho dairy producers will be in Boise next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for their annual meeting. The Idaho Dairymen's Association has invited Iowa farmer Jolene Brown to speak to its members. BROWN "They come for appreciation and no one deserves it more. They come for celebration because when is the last time they really enjoyed who they are and what they do and we need to come for education. We going to have our eyes opened and if I need to use duct tape and a two by four I've been known to do it." A Coeur d'Alene conference November 9th and 10th will look at rural areas where wild land and people meet. Rural homeowners who enjoy their privacy and the closeness to nature that goes with a home in the forest sometimes confront issues like invasive species, fire, wildlife, growth, and infrastructure needs.
