Westy Pickup told me The Idaho State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) has announced a series of training seminars for those seeking a pesticide applicator license for chemigation or for those wanting to learn more about Idaho’s chemigation requirements.

The upcoming training seminars will be followed by a special exam session for those interested in obtaining the chemigation category license. The training also will include information for licensed chemigators. One recertification credit will be offered for licensed applicators who attend the seminar.

Each training seminar will begin at 9 a.m. and will last approximately one hour.  An exam session will follow immediately afterward.  To ensure proper accommodations, please register by contacting Westy Pickup, Chemigation Program Specialist, at westy.pickup@isda.idaho.gov. The attendee’s name, phone number and selected session must be included.  Seating is limited.

Chemigation is the process of applying fertilizers and pesticides through an irrigation system to land or crops.  In Idaho, this process requires an individual to be properly licensed. Chemigation category licenses can be obtained for both private and professional pesticide applicators.

Attendance at this training seminar is not required to obtain chemigation category licensing, but the training is offered to provide information and assistance for those interested in taking the chemigation exam. Admission to the seminar is free. Regular exam and licensing fees still apply for those choosing to take the exam.  Exam fees are $10 per exam for professional applicators. Private applicators are exempt from exam fees.
