As the chair of NCBA's Federation of State Beef Councils, cow-calf producer Dawn Caldwell is helping outline the efforts to help build demand for beef.

She says state beef councils work hard to build beef demand in their states and become part of the Federation through commitment to national checkoff programs.

The Federation of State Beef Councils is a division of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, which is a contractor to the Beef Checkoff Program. The $1-per-head national beef checkoff is overseen by volunteer checkoff payers on the Cattlemen's Beef Board, with final approval of projects provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
