#BeNeatEatLessMeat Reaction
I'm Bob Larson. You may have seen the #BeNeatEatLessMeat campaign launched recently by talk show host and comedian Ellen Degeneres, intended to encourage people to eat less or no meat in their diets.
But, after South Dakota cattle rancher Amanda Radke posted a very polite, detailed letter asking to come on Ellen's show to explain all the great things about beef and the beef industry, she was filleted on social media.
U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse says what you eat is a personal decision ...
NEWHOUSE ... "I would hope that people in the entertainment business would, certainly they can hold their opinions, but keep their opinions a little more low-key. It would be much better."
The Sunnyside farmer says it's one of the dangers when public figures take a stand like this ...
NEWHOUSE ... "That can have a tremendous impact on whatever commodity they happen to be picking on at that time, a very negative impact on a lot of people's livelihoods, and their families, and that's, I don't know that they think through all the implications of some of the things that they either Tweet out or however they're communicating."
Newhouse says it's too bad ...
NEWHOUSE ... "I think it's unfortunate, but I think they should just stay, stay in their lane. They can entertain us as much as they like, but keep their opinions a little more low-key."
So far, no word from Radke on whether or not she's been invited to be on Ellen's show.
