A Taiwanese trade delegation has signed a letter of intent with Governor Polis and the Colorado Beef Council to expand access in Taiwan for Colorado's agricultural goods.

A nine member delegation toured production facilities and business meetings over two days so that the Taiwan Frozen Meat Packers Association could learn about the livestock production cycle.

Todd Inglee, the Executive Director for the Colorado Beef Council, says Taiwan is a significant market for US Agriculture. And the letter of intent shows that Colorado is important to Taiwan.

"It talks about the importance of trade between the countries. And the value of Colorado and our specific exports to their country."

The letter ensures these purchases continue and expand was signed by Governor Polis, Todd Inglee, executive director of the Colorado Beef Council and the Taiwan Frozen Meat Packers Association.

The Colorado Department of Agriculture organized this event between Governor Polis' office, the Taiwan Consulate, and the Colorado Beef Council. CDA set up production tours and business meetings. The delegation visited JBS Corporate offices, Cactus Hill Sheep Feeders, Five Rivers Cattle Feeders, and Coyote Ridge Ranch.

In 2018, Taiwan imported nearly $63 million worth of Colorado farm products, making it the seventh-largest market for Colorado agricultural exports.
