03/08/06 Farm diesel exemption form

Washington Ag March 8, 2006 To take advantage of the just enacted sales tax exemption for on-farm diesel, farmers and ranchers only need to go to the Washington Department of Revenue's website. Department spokesman Mike Gowrylow explains. Gowrylow: "Well since it's become effective immediately we have posted a document, a Farmer's Retail Sales Tax Exemption Certificate on our website at dor.wa.gov Farmers can download this, print it out and give to the fuel seller and then be exempt from any fuel deliveries for a year afterwards. They would have to renew it after that." If the internet isn't an option Gowrylow says just call. Gowrylow: "They can call our 1-800 number. It is 1-800-647-7706 and we would be happy to mail them a certificate." The Board of Regents of Washington State University has approved the purchase for one-point-one million dollars, of Sunrise Orchards near Palisades for use as a research, extension and teaching site. WSU had sold 70 of its 100 acres in Wenatchee three years ago because of encroaching development. The Tree Fruit Research Center's office, labs and shops will remain on the 30 acres still owned by WSU in Wenatchee. I'm Bob Hoff.
