02/27/06 Cowman`s Classic bull sale; oilseed mtgs

Time for the Cowman's Classic All Breed Bull sale. I'm Bob Hoff. That story and more coming up. Washington Ag February 27, 2006 Tomorrow is the 22nd Annual Cowman's Classic All Breed Bull sale at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds beginning at one p.m. The event is sponsored by participating state and regional breed associations. Gary Kendall of Kendall Cattle Sales of Potlatch, Idaho manages the sale and he says the 114 consigned bulls are more than in recent years. The bulls will be sifted for soundness. Kendall: "We have a screening committee hat will start on Monday and grade those bulls for sale order and then the sale is on Tuesday." Something new at the sale this year and going on today is a 4-H and FFA Beef Judging Contest that will provide an opportunity for those youth to tune up their skills in a competitive atmosphere. Wi BioFuels, the company that is planning an oilseed crushing and biodiesel facility in Clarkston is holding informational meetings this week for Inland Northwest growers. Questions about oilseed pricing and contracting will be answered at the meetings with seed purchase contracts on hand to fill out on first come-first served basis. One meeting is today at 2 pm at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds in Colfax. Tuesday at one pm is a meeting in Oakesdale at the Pine Creek Conservation District. On Wednesday there will be a meeting at 2 pm in Colton at the Gun Club. I'm Bob Hoff.
