02/08/06 Wheat Research Review

Washington Ag February 8, 2006 Coming up Wednesday, February 15th is the Washington State University and Washington Wheat Commission Wheat Research Review. The event is being held in Pullman at the Quality Inn and will begin at 8 am on the 15th. Wheat Commission chairman Randy Suess encourages producers to attend. Suess: "It is a real good chance, as I call it, it is a dog and pony show. It is the breeders, it's the researchers telling us the latest and greatest that they have to offer and what accomplishments they have had the previous year. And then of course asking for money for coming projects of theirs. It is a good chance to learn what is going on at WSU. Because these are things being done at the research level but will end up being on your farm. So come listen to them. Give your input. You have a chance to ask questions. It is just a real good opportunity for farmers to be there because this is your industry. You need to provide some input into it." Over 1.1 million dollars in grower funds were budgeted for wheat research this fiscal year by the Wheat Commission. Coming up later this month WSU and the Washington Barley Commission will hold a Barley Research Review. It will be February 22nd beginning at 10 am at the Hawthorne Inn in Pullman. The Barley Commission will have a hosted lunch so if you plan to attend RSVP to the Barley Commission by February 17th. I'm Bob Hoff.
