WAWG on TPP Pt 1

I'm Bob Larson. Listen up President Trump! Facing dramatic financial losses, the Washington Association of Wheat Growers wants back in the Trans Pacific Partnership!

President Marci Green says trade agreements like the TPP are vital to their livelihood...

GREEN ... "Trade, and specifically trade with Pacific Rim countries and Asia are extremely important to Washington wheat in particular, but wheat in the Pacific Northwest in general. 85 to 90% of Washington wheat is exported and most of most of those exports go to Asia, Japan, the Philippine's, Korea. Those are our largest markets."

Green says after the president pulled us out of the TPP, it left northwest and U.S. growers on the outside looking in ...

GREEN ... "So, pulling out of TPP, now that those other countries have gone ahead with the negotiations of the TPP agreement, they're kind of leaving us behind and we have done some studies and we will be at a severe price disadvantage in the next few years as those TPP agreements take effect."

Green says without the TPP or something like it, tariff charges could kill export trade.

Listen tomorrow for more on the Wheat Growers plea and what it means in the years ahead.
