Newhouse Appointments Pt 3

I'm Bob Larson. Three new sub-committee appointments take 4th District U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse away from his duties on the House Ag Committee, but might now put him in a stronger position when it comes to funding ...

DAN NEWHOUSE ... "You know, a lot of things are policy driven, but usually the policy takes some dollars behind it to make it happen. Being a Republican and coming from a very conservative district, it's very important for me that we are as wise with tax-payer dollars as possible. And so again, I'm just delighted to be in a position where I can affect the wise spending of those tax-payer dollars."

Newhouse says he will also sit on another subcommittee important to his district ...

DAN NEWHOUSE ... "Well, we've got the Energy Subcommittee, Energy and Water, but also the Homeland Security Subcommittee is something I was appointed to as well, which is a very important aspect of some of the issues we face today. My understanding is that some of the immigration issues will go through Homeland Security. So, that's another thing that's very important to Central Washington and so I'm happy to be in position there to have some positive impact on solutions to some of the issues we face in immigration."

Newhouse will also sit on the subcommittee on the Legislative Branch which oversees appropriations for the House offices, Congressional support agencies, security, and Capital operations and maintenance.
