I’m Susan Allen Last week the Spokane City City Council refused to pander to special interest and acted to protect trade in Washington State by rescinding an illegal rail ordinance that would have made it illegal to ship coal and oil through Spokane. Spokane Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich, who was involved in getting this ordinance overturned, explains how this would have hurt our state.

Knezovich,: Think about it right now Washington is effecting Wyoming’s economy in a drastic way I mean it has really crippled Wyoming’s economy because of the coal issue, could you imagine Wyoming retaliating and getting Idaho Utah and Arizona to join in that retaliation could any Washington products go over the rail to the east coast.

Our apples our produce the list goes on and on

Knezovich: Exactly. We are called the ‘United’ States for a reason and what the whole ordinance was talking about is taking us back to the article of confederation and that didn’t work. So this is a very important issue and again it was not constitution and I don’t know how they planned to enforce an unconstitutional law within the borders of Spokane Country because I just wasn’t going to allow that.
