Fish Off and Farm To Table

I'm Susan Allen with Washington Ag Today . A 'Farm to Table" event that might be right up your Dad's alley starts with a fish Off June 18th at Klink's Resort on Lake Williams outside of Spokane and wraps up with a Farm to Table dinner Sunday at Mont Lamm Event Center north of Deer Park. I asked Shannon Siemens who co- owns Mont Lamm why include fishing in a Farm to Table event:

Siemen: I predict, we hope that we will have a whole bunch of people that don't fish regularly. Or perhaps have never fished, or fished as a child, that kind of thing. Our heart behind the "Farm to Table" is to begin the conversation about what we put in our mouth. So it just totally fits to start with the water and start with the fish and get people doing things they maybe haven't ever done, Why would we do that why would we care about catching our own fish. They just go hand and hand in our philosophy. That's why we are doing the Fish Off.

So you've caught your fish then it's off to the Father's Day "Farm to Table" dinner Sunday at Mont Lamm where it is all locally sourced within 50 miles and it again has a different twist:

Siemen: We are not so much stuck on organic as we are on practices, we really focus on that. Meeting the farmer going to the farm what do you have available, how do you grow this. We don't say all organic, but we do say we know our farmers. I know Monte Lamm is typically a wedding venue but do you do many Farm to Tables? To date this will be our 7th Farm to Table Event and this is the second in a run from May to September.
