The Washington Cattlemen's Association and Washington Cattlewomen are getting ready for their annual convention and tradeshow November 12 - 14 in Spokane. WCA's Jack Field says they have a number of interesting topics and speakers lined up for the convention. One of the annual events mainstays, Cattlemen's College, will kick things off.

FIELD: We're partnering again this year with Zoetis. The title is "Politics and Technology In Beef Production". Kathy Mitchell, who's the Director of Government Affairs with Zoetis, is going to discuss Zoetis' role in lobbying Congress and the Administration for the continued use of technology in beef production. We'll also have a discussion on veterinarians and the use of antibiotics in feeds, and any new and upcoming regulations that we'll be seeing in 2016 - mainly focusing on the vet/client/patient relationships.

Other topics to be covered during the event include livestock ID and animal health, natural resources and land planning, and market projections and challenges. For more information visit wacattle.org.

Members of the Washington wine industry are still struggling with the news that one of the industry's most cherished winemakers, Eric Dunham, died unexpectedly late last week. Dunham, along with his parents, founded Dunham Cellars in Walla Walla in 1998. The 44 year old Dunham's winemaking and artistic talents brought the family winery worldwide recognition and numerous awards. In a celebration of his life and achievements Eric's family and friends will gather together this Saturday beginning at 1pm at Dunham Cellars in Walla Walla.

That's Washington Ag Today.
