You know these are tough times… financially speaking. And when the fiscal going gets tough, thieves get going. Such is the case with irrigation systems which are rife with copper. Lots and lots of agricultural producers victimized by copper theft in their irrigation systems. I recently reported on a company called AgSense which has a theft deterrent system. Here’s AgSense employee Nancy Schiltz: How is business? I would think this is a must have. In certain areas it is. Listen to what a video on their website tells the potential buyer. “AgSense is the industry leader in remote irrigation management. Wagnet is the AgSense Web portal where customers monitor, manage and control their irrigation systems. Along with using a standard web browser, your AgSense devices can also be viewed and controlled through our app currently available on iPhone or Android. Well apparently someone was listening to my story because I got a press release saying “Valmont Industries, Inc., a leading global provider of engineered products and services for infrastructure and mechanized irrigation equipment for agriculture, recently announced that it has acquired a majority interest in South Dakota-based AgSense (www.agsense.net). The acquisition further extends Valmont’s industry leading offerings in remote monitoring and control technology for agriculture.”
