This is the Agribusiness Update...I'm Greg Martin...

The city of Cleveland is the latest to join the "Meatless Mondays" campaign.  Meatingplace reports a recent resolution declares that "the City of Cleveland recognizes the benefits of a diet high in fruits and vegetables and urges residents to participate in Meatless Mondays to improve their health and decrease their carbon footprint."  Cleveland joins Los Angeles, Washington D.C, San Francisco and Raleigh-Durham North Carolina that have passed similar city resolutions.

A long-time champion of the produce and agriculture industries, U.S. Rep. Doc Hastings from Washington State will receive the United Fresh Congressional Leadership Award Tuesday, September 9. United Fresh will honor Rep. Hastings for his work representing produce industry interests, including his service as co-chair of the House Specialty Crop Caucus and his leadership on immigration reform and multiple Farm Bills. United Fresh presents its Congressional Leadership Award to show special recognition to lawmakers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and steadfast commitment to representing the interests of the fresh produce industry.

That's today's Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network.
