Agribusiness Update for Wednesday 12/25/13

This is the Agribusiness Update...I'm Greg Martin...

A bipartisan group of 43 Senators is requesting that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration immediately end its unlawful regulation of family farms. They also direct OSHA to issue updated guidance concerning their misinterpretation of current law. Nebraska Senator Mike Johanns led the effort after raising the issue on the Senate floor.

It's President Barack Obama's intention to nominate Senate Finance Committee Chair Max Baucus as Ambassador to China. The President says Baucus has worked to deepen the relationship between the U.S. and China for more than two decades. President Obama says the economic agreements he helped forge have created millions of American jobs and added billions of dollars to the economy.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has been calling on Congress to expedite passage of a new Food, Farm and Jobs bill that - among other things - continues USDA support for market expansion around the world and builds on efforts that have helped achieve record agricultural trade over the past five years.
