On Tuesday - House Speaker John Boehner made a statement blaming Senate Democrats for slowness in completing a farm bill. In response - Senate Ag Chair Debbie Stabenow says Republicans and Democrats have worked together for two years in a row in the Senate to pass a bipartisan farm bill. But the conference committee isn't quite there yet and it may take until January to get things hammered out.

At a conference in Indonesia this week - the World Trade Organization has been put under pressure to develop a trade deal that proves it can finalize a global trade pact. The prospect of this pact could boost world economic output by as much as 1-trillion dollars - but it is uncertain due to clashes between developed and developing nations on controversial ag provisions.

Rural businesses and residents need access to clean water and modern waste disposal systems - says Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack. In another announcement Wednesday - Vilsack announced USDA will provide 203-million dollars to finance 74 water and infrastructure improvement projects in 40 states through USDA Rural Development's Water and Environmental Program.

That's today's Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network.
