Agribusiness Update for Tuesday 12/3/13

This is the Agribusiness Update...I'm Greg Martin...

A major fight is brewing over the EPA's recent proposal to reduce the Renewable Fuel Standard for conventional and advanced biofuels next year. The EPA's move to reduce to just over 15-billion gallons from an 18-billion gallon target has sparked a huge outcry from farm and biofuel interests. Senator's Grassley and Klobuchar have also asked the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission to probe alleged efforts by oil companies to stop their retailers from installing E-15 blender pumps.

There are plenty of hot jobs with opportunities to see the world in the agriculture industry. Cindy Langenberg - Senior Human Resources Manager with DuPont Pioneer - says her company is always looking for new agronomists. In fact - there is a shortage of agronomists and to meet that challenge DuPont Pioneer is adding about a thousand new positions every year around the world.

The EPA has opened the 60-day public comment period related to the 2014 renewable fuel volumes. Fuels America is gathering comments through their website. The deadline for comments is January 28, 2014. The EPA's proposal would gut the Renewable Fuel Standard and decrease the amount of biofuel in the nation's fuel supply by 1.39 billion gallons.

That's today's Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network.
