This is the Agribusiness Update...I'm Greg Martin...

The Agriculture Committee leaders did not reach an agreement on a new farm bill last week. The four members met for more than an hour in the morning and less than half an hour Thursday afternoon before deciding there was no point to continue. Debbie Stabenow expressed disappointment the leaders hasn't reached agreement yet - but stated she would continue to fight for priorities the Senate feels are important.

With work on reauthorization of the farm bill still incomplete - a report from the White House Rural Council highlights the benefits of a new farm bill for all Americans. It includes the economic benefits for the domestic agriculture sector, its workforce, rural American communities and families and businesses across the country. The report says passage of a Food, Farm and Jobs bill would build on recent momentum of the U.S. agriculture economy - a key engine of economic growth.

It turns out the turkeys President Obama has pardoned the day before Thanksgiving have not enjoyed a long life at Mount Vernon. In fact - all of them have died. The turkey pardoned this year - and its alternate - will be sent to Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia. Mount Vernon officials have said they no longer want to care for the birds because they do not match the historic accuracy of turkeys from George Washington's era.

That's today's Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network.
