Frank Lucas - House Agriculture Committee Chairman and leader of the Farm Bill Conference Committee - says farm bill leaders need to have a draft of the farm bill by the end of this week if it's to become law before the end of the year. Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow expressed hope the leaders could release a framework by the end of the week or shortly thereafter.

The oil industry has made repeal of the Renewable Fuel Standard a top priority. VoteVets dot org - the 360-thousand-plus supporter veterans group - and Americans United for Change are joining the counteroffensive against Big Oil's lies about the renewable fuel industry's job-growing, money-saving, environmentally-friendly record. The two groups say they will use every tactic at their disposal to harness grassroots energy in support of an RFS rule.

The Trees for Troops program provides free, farm-grown Christmas trees to armed forces members and their families each Christmas. This year they have plans to deliver more than 17-thousand trees to 61 military bases in the U.S. and overseas. The program kicks off this week at a tree farm in Indiana where approximately 250 trees donated by members of the Indiana Christmas Tree Association will be collected and transported to service members.
