Agribusiness Update for Thursday 6/27/13

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has suggested House Speaker John Boehner should take up the farm bill approved by the Senate since the House was unable to get the job done on its own measure. Reid said doing nothing means no reform, no deficit reduction and no certainty for millions of American farm industry workers. And according to Reid - the Senate will not pass another temporary farm bill extension.

President Barack Obama unveiled his plan to address climate change Tuesday. A White House fact sheet states that by taking an all-of-the-above approach to develop homegrown energy and steady, responsible steps to cut carbon pollution - we can protect the health of our children and begin to slow the effects of climate change so we leave a cleaner, more stable environment for future generations.

A new public opinion poll gauges the consumer impacts of constantly fluctuating gas prices and reveals what Americans think is the solution: renewable fuel. Overwhelmingly, Americans think the nation should be using more renewable fuel and support the one policy, the Renewable Fuel Standard, that is making that happen.The report says 59% of Americans blame oil companies for high fuel prices.
