Agribusiness Update for Friday 5/31/13

This is the Agribusiness Update...I’m Greg Martin...

Oregon Farm Bureau has filed suit in response to the Department of Labor’s refusal to comply with the federal Freedom of Information Act. In the filing, Farm Bureau seeks public records about USDOL’s use of “hot goods” powers. Filing this lawsuit is Farm Bureau’s only option after USDOL failed to meet its deadline to respond to an April 23, 2013 appeal.

USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service announced yesterday they are accepting applications from landowners interested in the Wetlands Reserve Program and Grassland Reserve Program. The application deadline for fiscal year 2013 funding is June 7, 2013. All applications for 2013 consideration must be received by close of business on that day.

The Walter Clore Wine & Culinary Center is pleased to announce Greg Lipsker, owner of Barrister Winery in Spokane, as the 2013 Legends blend winemaker. Greg is the seventh winemaker to make an exclusive blend to commemorate this year’s inductee into the Washington Wine Hall of Fame.

That’s today’s Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network.
