Agribusiness Update for Wednesday 3/13/13

This is the Agribusiness Update...I’m Greg Martin...

As lawmakers debate the next Farm Bill, more than 40 commodity groups, lending organizations, input suppliers and other stakeholders are calling on Congress to oppose to any changes to crop insurance that would discourage producer participation in insurance or undermine private sector delivery of insurance products.

With gasoline prices up across the country, the oil industry is pointing to the "blend wall" and the sharp increase in Renewable Identification Number prices as the cause, according to The Wall Street Journal. Renewable Fuels Association President Bob Dinneen says "[T]he E10 'blend wall' was erected by the oil companies themselves, and it is little more than a convenient excuse for their refusal to move to higher-level ethanol blends.”

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has published the new Form I-9.  It is available for use, but not mandatory until May 7, 2013.  There have been no changes to the regulation or law. The changes made to the Form I-9 include new fields, reformatting to reduce errors, and clearer instructions to both employees and employers.
