Agribusiness Update for Tuesday 2/19/13

The Renewable Fuels Association and other groups are criticizing a bill that would undo the EPA's approval of E15 for model year 2001 and newer vehicles. According to the RFA President and CEO Bob Dinneen the oil industry and its allies are "fighting to preserve their monopoly, their unfair and outrageously expensive tax credits, and most of all, their record breaking profits."

National FFA Week began Saturday throughout the U.S. and includes activities and events at the national, state and local level in all 50 U.S. states throughout this week. Each year, National FFA Week gives the nearly 560,000 FFA members a chance to raise public awareness about FFA and agricultural education and share the importance of American agriculture in general.

Farm Bureau says legislation introduced in the House to repeal the Health Insurance Tax is a major step for farmers, ranchers and small businesses that would otherwise be negatively impacted by healthcare reform. Farm Bureau President Bob Stallman says the Health Insurance Tax will impose even more devastating costs on America’s farmers, ranchers and small businesses - making it harder for them to purchase coverage for themselves, their families and their employees.
