So often on Sportsmens Spotlight, we reach out to all outdoorsman and ask that they become very involved in conservation efforts no matter where they take place, but especially on our public lands. The theme of conservation is to preserve our precious outdoor resources.

Last week we told you about a new campaign to fight invasive pests in the waters of the West. A new campaign to fight invasive pests in the waters of the West has a message for boaters.

You're MAKING SURE YOU DON'T HAVE ANY OF THOSE zebra mussels, quagga mussels, Eurasian water mill foil, anything that could potentially be an invasive species. Belle Bergner is the national director of the Play, Clean, Go campaign that aims to raise awareness among people who enjoy the outdoors.

So that's why their mantra for aquatic species is clean, drain and dry. So it's not just wiping down and hosing off but also making sure your boat is dry because yeah sometimes it's a little bit of water can keep some of those guys alive for some period time. So yeah dry dry dry. Also try to make sure to clean your boat as best you can. There's also at boat landings increasing numbers of boat washing stations. That makes it easier for folks to do that.
