A chat with fishermen Kent Goodman about making the transition from ocean fishing to freshwater flyfishing. "I can't even remember when I learned how to fish. I think it was my grand dad who taught me how to fish on the docks of the Oceanside yacht club hand lining for perch. We called them out house perch because they ate anything. I was raised in Santa Barbara until I was 11. My mom would drop me off at the pier and I would stay all day talking to old fisherman. My mom said it was the only thing that I could focus on and not get ADD. Then when I was in the fifth grade we moved to Oregon and I loved it. I started tying ugly flies and fished in rivers and streams and I have evolved from conventional fishing to almost exclusively flyfishing. I love it.
