The Colorado Department of Agriculture developed Colorado Proud program in 1999.

It is a free marketing program designed to help consumers, restaurants and retailers identify and purchase Colorado food and agricultural products.

Wendy White Marketing Specialist with the Colorado Department of Agriculture says says consumers have likely seen the Colorado Proud logo on foods and products at the grocery store but the summer growing season is when it is most obvious.

"August if Colorado Proud month so that's our big time to hit the road and educate people about Colorado agriculture. And we'll be kicking off the month August first to celebrate Colorado's birthday and Colorado Day at the History Colorado Museum in downtown Denver."

The Colorado Proud program was designed after a statewide survey showed that more than 90% of Coloradans would buy more Colorado grown and produced products if they were available and identified as being from Colorado.

You may see the COLORADO PROUD logo on any food or agricultural product that has been grown, raised or processed in Colorado.
