Over the years, I have been to Delaware a few times, covering various outdoor sporting events. One of the things that Delaware is really noted for is its great waterfowl hunting with ducks being a real focus. Along the way, I met and kept in touch withI an extremely nice guy by the name of George Gorman. As outdoorsmen are inclined to do, we were sitting around trading war stories when I found out that George is from Delaware... A waterfowl hunting paradise. Delaware being on the Atlantic flyway, we see a plethora of waterfowl. All types of ducks. We see teal species, we see blue wings comes through in September, green wings start coming in in October and they will stick around all the way through December, we have plenty of wood ducks and in the large duck species we will see the mallards, black ducks, pin tails so we have a nice variety of birds moving in and of course if you are a goose hunter we have a strong population of Canada geese and of course snow geese. George, where do you hunt them from. I always think Chesapeake Bay. How you out in a boat in Chesapeake Bay or are you in a blind on a river? It really depends on circumstances and what the birds are doing, if it is a warm day we will go to the water and hunt either Delaware Bay or some of the tributaries of some of the rivers in Maryland that are feeding the Chesapeake Bay. If we get a cold snap and the birds are feeding in the fields, we have field pits that we will set up and actually hunt them on the farms when they are coming to feed. We have a club, a friend of mine, it's a funny story, we started gunning when we were 12 years old and we are getting ready to start our 35th year hunting waterfowl together.
