There are pointing dogs and then there are pointing dogs. I got a story about a pointing dog who may have pointed out too much.

Sean Isaac owns a dog breeding business called Tri-Lab Kennels in Central Washington and obviously, by virtue of the name, his favorite dogs to breed are labs. There is no question that Sean’s favorite pointer is “on it”. Listen to this story. I live up against the base of a mountain. One of the guys I work with wanted to go hunt chuckers so we loaded up my good stead dog, Tiger, and we drove up behind a hill. I had jumped 60 birds in there a week before. Unload the dog. We are walking along this face headed toward a rocky ridge and my dog comes on point. My buddy yells hey your dog is on point. I say yeah I see him. About that time I get a phone call on my cell phone. I don’t answer the phone. I said to my buddy are you ready and he says yes. All of a sudden 25 yards in front of us a big cougar jumps up, shakes himself off, he had been laying there resting or sleeping, turns around and looks at me, my buddy yells it’s a cougar, I say I know, I called my dog back, the cat made 3 bounces and went up the hill. This dog has pointed on everything from mice, to skunks, to porcupines.
