Josh Mills was hunting turkeys while his father sat nearby in his truck and waited for him. Something spooked the turkey he was on and it flew away. "Here’s where it gets very interesting. All of a sudden I hear my dad’s truck engine turn on. I’m like, what is he doing? All of a sudden he starts backing out of the barnyard, gets on the road and I am waving at him. The hunt is over because the turkey is gone. He ends up getting onto the road and driving off. In 25 years of hunting with my father I have never seen anything like this and I am like, is he having some kind of medical emergency? I immediately start walking back in the field towards the creek and this creek is no wider than three or 4 feet. So I knew where the channel was but instead of walking backwards to where I crossed originally, I’m like, in a fit of grandeur I thought I could cross the creek. I took two steps into the flooded field where I thought that creek was and it turns out I was wrong. Boom. I plunged down over 10 feet into this big hole in the creek. Water over my head, gun in the middle of this icy meltwater creek. I pull myself out of the creek, wipe my face off, with my gun down, ring myself out. I look up and get some staring at me? My dad. I said what in the hell were you doing? He said what were you doing? You left me. No I didn’t leave you. I was just trying to get a better view of the turkey. We proceeded to yell at each other for about 20 minutes.
