Pre-season Bow Check

It's one of the most frustrating things that can happen to an archery hunter. You put in hours and hours of practice and you finally get the opportunity you've been waiting so long for. Just as you draw, your bow makes the slightest peep of a sound and just like that, your bounty is gone. Here's Stuck N' The Rut member Travis Schneider as he walks us through his pre-season bow check off list.

Travis "One of the things I always check, and I have the guy that set this bow up, he tied a knot on both sides of my peep. I do not want that thing moving, we've had peep sights get caught in the field, moving up or down and causing a miss. So that's the first thing, string loop same thing. I have them tie a knot on both sides of it so it can't move. You want to make sure all of your allen wrenches are tight and just quiet. One of the things I did with this bow, when you pull it back. If it hadn't been drawn for a while, it would make a little suction noise. So I put a little bit of coconut oil on there and that silenced it up and the other thing is my grip had a little tiny squeak. So I took that off and put some felt behind that, you just want to go through your bow, draw it back a few times and make sure everything is really quiet."

I'm right there with you Travis, keeping your bow as quiet as possible is a key factor some archers forget about. Thanks again for the quick tips.
