Cliff Fishing

Here's your riddle of the day.... What do 2 basketballs and sweatshirt have to do with fishing? Here's avid surf fisher Mac from Grand Junction, CO to tell us how they fish of the big cliffs in Hawaii.

Mac "Guy gets out of the back of his Toyota pickup truck he drives up to the cliff base, his wife gets out. He takes a long sleeve sweatshirt out and he ties off the cuffs in the front and he pulls 2 basketballs out. He shoves a basketball up each sleeve and he ties that off, then hooks his rig on to the sweatshirt and lowers it over the cliff face. That becomes the floatation that takes it out, it also becomes the drag. So anyways, they hook these fish, they hook their rigs on and you look out there in the open water and you see this. They bring them back and they catch their fish, they're catching ahi, popi's, but when I was there one guy tied in a very nice lemonhead. They reel it back up to the cliff face, his wife gets out of the truck and she's got just the end of the gaff hook and its on a rope and they try to hook the fish or the sweatshirt, and she's got this board with handles on it. As he's pulling she's cranking on this board, just like wheeling in a big old kite and she's pulling it back with a rope, and that's how they fish off the cliff faces."

Tom "Wow Mac, that's quite a unique way to fish off a 40 foot cliff. There you have it, todays riddle complete."
