Rob Maxey talks more sea lions. "The Endangered Species Act had a place. In 1972 there were not very many animals. Now there are over a quarter million and they are taking over their habitat. They are causing problems. The salmon take at the dams is nothing compared with what happened Sturgeon. Salmon turn around in 3 to 5 years, sturgeon are a 50 to 100 year cycle. They are just waiting the species out in front of our eyes. We are not able to do anything about it. It's pretty frustrating. You're telling me that sea lions are endangering sturgeon? Oh yes. the sturgeon keg up at the mouth of the fish ladders to spawn and the sea lions are going and taking the 80 to 100-year-old Sturgeon, ripping the eggs out and killing them right there. That is one of the reasons that the sturgeon fishery has so many restrictions, the sea lions are wiping the sturgeon out.
