Yesterday young, responsible and avid hunter, Hunter Lindsay, (perfect name, right) told us the story of going hunting in a canyon where he glassed and then harvested a black bear. It was getting dark by the time he finally walked up to his prize. "We couldn't tell exactly how big it was when we first saw it because it is really hard to tell how big bears are. We walked up to it and realized it was a really nice one. It was almost dark by the time we got to it. We were skinning it and we took a lot of the meat, the back straps and the hindquarters and it was pitch black by the time we got done. We had to hike out in the dark for about 2 miles back to the trailer where are their camp was. It took us a few hours because of all the weight. We had to use our flashlights and headlamps to get out of there. When we got back we measured it... Almost 6 feet long and 200 pounds which is a pretty good-sized bear. Will you eat some of that bear meat? Yes we make it into sausage.
