7-22 SS Oregon Wolves 2

Ranchers and outdoorsmen certainly have one thing in common: a desire to see wolves delisted.

Todd Nash is both an outdoorsman and a hunter. And he has been affected by a pack of wolves both in terms of his business and his sport. Let’s listen. “We were barely able to sustain the elk herds that we have as it is and now with another predator we are not going to be able to maintain. Locally the elk count last year was only 18 calves per hundred when they would like to have closer to 45 or 50 calves per hundred. That number is not sustainable. That will put the elk out of business. And that is only with one pack affecting that elk herd. For sportsmen and cattlemen alike it is going to be devastating. In order to de-list completely in Oregon, we have to have 14 breeding packs in order to treat them like a game mammal. We are a long way from that and we have had a lot of trouble. We don’t have vast wilderness was where these packs can roam and not be in human conflict. Maybe your governor will come to his senses like our governor did and say this is crazy. I’m guessing not. I’m guessing not.
